Iroquois Park adds 180 stairs leading to scenic overlook

The latest breaking updates, delivered straight to your email inbox.

Parkgoers and hikers will have a new way to reach the overlook at Iroquois Park now.

Olmsted Parks Conservancy opened a new stairway at the park, which leads to the overlook at the top.

Park officials said the stairway is comprised of more than 180 sandstone steps that start at the parking lot near Uphill and Rundill roads.

This stairway installation was a part of phase 1 of the Natural Surface Trail Restoration Plan.

The goal is to connect key access points and destinations around the park by creating a link between the parking lot by the amphitheater and those spots.

The steps also connect with the Corbly Trail on the way up, so visitors can choose to break off if they wish.
